Presiden Membangun Papua dengan Bencana

WALHI 05/09/10, Jakarta - Kekhawatiran bahwa food estate (pertanian skala luas) akan membawa masalah ke Papua, semakin nyata. Selain karena akan mengambil wilayah hutan, meminggirkan masyarakat adat Papua dari tanah adatnya, mengakibatkan kesenjangan sosial dan mencemari lingkungan juga akan menyebabkan konflik berkelanjutan di Merauke. Karena sebenarnya MIFEE dijalankan bukan untuk masyarakat Papua akan tetapi untuk pemenuhan dan perputaran modal korporasi besar seperti Wilmar, Sinar Mas dan Medco.

Australia to close its door to illegal timber

Indonesian environmental and social justice groups welcome the Australian Government’s commitment that, if re-elected, it will to make the importation of illegal timber and forest products a criminal offence. The commitment to ban illegal timber from entering Australia was made by Australia’s Forestry Minister Mr Tony Burke earlier this week.
