Nusa halmahera minerals pollutes river

Nusa Halmahera Minerals (NHM), a gold mining company, have been operating in Halmahera Island, North Moluccas, Indonesia, since 1997. The company owned 82,5 % by Newcrest Holding Pty. Ltd (Australia), and 17,5 % by Antam (Indonesia). The company had inflicted in human rights violations, the most highlighted is the shooting dead of member community, Rusdi Tunggapi, in 2004 while he and other villagers demanded land compensation from NHM.
